Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) is implementing a comprehensive package of emergency and recovery health interventions in Al Fashir rural (Shagra C) and surrounding areas of North Darfur, targeting newly arrived internally displaced persons (IDPs) and host communities.
As part of this response, HDPO is operating a mobile clinic in Al Fashir rural, staffed by seven medical personnel seconded by the State Ministry of Health, to provide essential primary healthcare services to crisis-affected populations with limited access to health facilities.
In parallel, HDPO has rehabilitated the Saidelshuda Health Center, located south of Al Fashir, restoring critical health infrastructure and equipping the facility with furniture, medical consumables, essential medicines, and hygiene facilities. This intervention has strengthened the health center’s capacity to deliver safe and dignified services to surrounding communities.
To address the growing mental health and psychosocial needs resulting from conflict and displacement, HDPO also established a Trauma and Counseling Center within the health facility. The center supports trauma case management, referral pathways, and the provision of essential supplies for psychosocial support and protection services.
In addition, HDPO conducted capacity-building training for 30 medical staff and 50 community volunteers, selected from health facilities within IDP settlements, in coordination with the State Ministry of Health. The training aimed to enhance service quality, emergency response readiness, and community-level health outreach.
These integrated health and protection interventions are implemented with funding support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
Through these efforts, HDPO continues to strengthen local health systems, expand access to lifesaving care, and deliver coordinated, needs-based humanitarian health responses for conflict-affected communities in North Darfur.
