HDPO International participated in a two-day consultation workshop with Sudanese Civil Society Organizations and Human Rights Defenders on the conflict in Sudan and its implications for human rights, the rule of law, and the protection of women and children.
The consultation was held from 6–7 November 2023 at the Regional Service Centre in Entebbe, Uganda, and was organized by the Office of Support to Civilian Protection – UNITAMS. The workshop brought together national and regional actors to exchange analysis, share field-based experiences, and strengthen collective advocacy and protection responses amid the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
HDPO International contributed to discussions on the humanitarian and protection consequences of the conflict, with a particular focus on violations affecting civilians, the shrinking civic space, and heightened risks facing women, children, and other vulnerable groups. The engagement emphasized the importance of coordinated civil society action, survivor-centered protection approaches, and accountability mechanisms to uphold human rights and the rule of law.
This participation reflects HDPO’s strong commitment to amplifying local voices, supporting civil society leadership, and engaging in regional and international platforms to promote civilian protection and inclusive, principled humanitarian responses.
HDPO International remains dedicated to working with partners, human rights defenders, and international mechanisms to advance protection, justice, and dignity for conflict-affected communities in Sudan.
