About Us
Who Are We
Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) is an African Indigenous Non-for-Profit Organization striving for a world free from poverty, fear, and oppression. We deliver life-saving and life-changing interventions to the most vulnerable communities, from rapid emergency response to innovative humanitarian-development nexus programming.
Our Story
HDPO was established in 2018 in response to refugee influxes in Uganda, mainly from South Sudan. In 2020, operations expanded to Sudan, delivering humanitarian assistance to Internally Displaced Persons in North Darfur and later across the Darfur region.
Following the armed conflict in Khartoum in April 2023, HDPO relocated its Sudan Head Office to Port Sudan while maintaining uninterrupted operations in hard-to-reach areas.
Currently, HDPO operates across seven states in Sudan: North Darfur, South Darfur, Khartoum, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Red Sea, and Al Jazirah.
Our Vision
A world where no one lives in poverty, fear or oppression; where all have access to a decent standard of living and the opportunities and choices essential to a long, healthy and creative life; a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, leaving no one behind.
Our Mission
Our mission is to support people and communities living in life-threatening conditions and extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their lives which last and spread without ongoing support from HDPO.
