
HDPO successfully conducted an introductory coordination meeting for the Emergency Lifesaving Health Services and Basic Protection Project in Mellit Locality, North Darfur state, on 10 December 2025, as part of efforts to enhance community engagement and ensure effective implementation of emergency interventions.
The meeting brought together 19 key stakeholders, including representatives from local authorities, traditional leaders, community leaders, health and shelter committees, and a representative of Persons with Disabilities, reflecting HDPO’s commitment to inclusive and participatory humanitarian action.
During the session, HDPO presented the project’s objectives, planned activities, target locations, and expected outcomes, with a strong focus on women’s and children’s protection needs. Participants emphasized the importance of coordinated responses to address the growing humanitarian challenges in Mellit.
Stakeholders expressed appreciation for HDPO’s intervention and highlighted the project’s relevance to the current context. The representative of Persons with Disabilities noted that this was the first time they felt meaningfully included in a project coordination meeting, underscoring the value of inclusive programming.
This project is funded by USAID and implemented with the support of IOM Sudan, reinforcing a shared commitment to delivering lifesaving health services and basic protection assistance to vulnerable and crisis-affected communities in North Darfur.
HDPO reaffirmed its dedication to strengthening community coordination mechanisms and ensuring that emergency health and protection services reach those most in need, particularly women, children, and persons with disabilities.
