The security situation in and around El Fasher City, North Darfur, deteriorated rapidly between 8 and 9 June 2024, resulting in large-scale displacement in and around the city and significantly increasing humanitarian needs among affected communities.
In response to the escalating crisis, and demonstrating its best field experience and rapid response capacity, Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) swiftly mobilized emergency assistance. On 9 June 2024, HDPO delivered life-saving food support to 200 of the most vulnerable displaced households, in coordination with Darfur Victims Support Organisation and the El-Geneina Saving Initiative.
Each targeted household received a standardized food basket designed to meet immediate nutritional needs, including 5 kg of sugar, 4 liters of cooking oil, 2 kg of lentils, 2 kg of rice, 2 kg of flour, and 2 packets of pasta. This timely intervention helped mitigate food insecurity and provided critical relief to families affected by sudden displacement.
This emergency response reflects HDPO’s continued commitment to principled humanitarian action, effective coordination with local partners, and the delivery of timely, dignified assistance to crisis-affected populations. HDPO remains dedicated to supporting vulnerable communities in North Darfur through responsive, needs-based humanitarian interventions during times of acute emergency.
