As part of its ongoing Health and Protection Project in Mellit Locality, the Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) delivered mobile clinic services at Sani Hayat Health Facility on 24 January 2026, expanding access to essential primary healthcare for conflict-affected and underserved communities in North Darfur.
The activity was implemented by HDPO in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Sudan through the Rapid Response Fund (RRF) and funded by the U.S. Department of State, aiming to address gaps in health service delivery caused by prolonged disruption.
During the intervention, 110 patients received medical services (53 females and 57 males). Services included 8 antenatal consultations, vaccination of 45 children, vaccination of 3 pregnant women, and referral of 2 cases to Mellit health facilities for further management. One case of scalp fungal infection was also identified and managed.
In addition to clinical services, HDPO launched the first community health awareness session in Sani Hayat, focusing on proper health-seeking behavior, prevention of harmful practices, maternal health and care for pregnant women, and child nutrition. Community members actively engaged and highlighted the urgent need for continued health education, medicine availability, diagnostics, and nutrition support.
Despite challenges related to long distances, difficult access, shortages of essential medicines and vaccines, and the absence of laboratory services, the activity was successfully implemented and demonstrated strong community demand.
HDPO will continue weekly mobile clinic services and community health promotion activities to strengthen access to life-saving, people-centered healthcare for IDPs and host communities in Mellit Locality.
