Implementation of Integrated Community Case Management Training and Medical Supply Support in Bamna Area, North Darfur

Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) conducted an Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM) training and delivery of medical supplies in Bamna Area, North Darfur, on 4 February 2026, under the project Restoring Lives of Affected Families and Communities through Integrated Emergency Response in Sudan II.

The activity targeted two Community Health Workers (CHWs) recently trained under the project and aimed to strengthen community-based primary health care services for children under five, focusing on the prevention and management of malaria, diarrhea, and pneumonia, which remain leading causes of child morbidity in hard-to-reach areas.

The training applied participatory and practical approaches, covering assessment and classification of childhood illnesses, correct use and dosage of ICCM medicines, caregiver counseling, and timely referral of severe cases to Bamna Health Center. Emphasis was placed on strengthening coordination between CHWs and the health facility.
The activity was implemented by HDPO, with partner support from Relief International and funding from the U.S. Department of State and BHA. As a result, ICCM services were immediately initiated at the community level, strengthening early diagnosis, treatment, and referral of childhood illnesses. HDPO will continue supporting community-led health services to improve child health outcomes in North Darfur.

Following the training, a complete ICCM medical kit was handed over to the CHWs, including antimalarial medicines, malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs), antibiotics, oral rehydration salts (ORS), paracetamol, and other essential supplies. Additional medicines were also provided to Bamna Health Center to support referral cases and service continuity.
