Under the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Project, the Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organisation (HDPO) produced and distributed Information, Education and Communication/Behaviour Change Communication (IEC/BCC) materials to strengthen disaster risk awareness and reinforce positive behaviour-change messages across 20 targeted villages in Galabat Eastern and Western Localities, Al Gedaref State
From 19–25 July 2026, HDPO implemented a one-week production and village-level distribution process covering all 20 targeted villages. The materials included posters, leaflets, and brochures featuring key DRR risk-awareness and behaviour-change messages tailored to the local context.
Field teams developed a village-by-village distribution schedule and delivered the materials to households, community focal points, and accessible community locations. The materials were also displayed in community spaces to ensure that key messages remained visible and available for continued reference.
The IEC/BCC materials reinforced messages delivered through previous community awareness sessions, Training of Trainers (ToT) activities, and fuel-efficient stove interventions, helping communities maintain access to consistent information beyond individual training and awareness events.
The activity achieved full geographic coverage, reaching all 10 targeted villages in each locality. It was implemented by HDPO with partner and support from IOM Sudan and funded by the United Nations Peacekeeping, contributing to sustained risk awareness, behaviour change, community preparedness, and locally led disaster risk reduction.
