Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organisation implemented health programs in Al Jazirah State, central Sudan. The initiatives included health education, personal hygiene, and public health awareness, along with guidance on cholera prevention.
The programs were carried out in collaboration with the Health Promotion Department of the Al Jazirah State Ministry of Health, with support from the Austrian Development Agency through the International Organization for Migration.
The awareness programs were held at Al-Shagadi Boys’ School, reaching 900 students, and at Al-Sheema Girls’ School, targeting 500 students. Additionally, sessions were held at the Ismaili market, benefiting around 200 individuals. Posters were distributed on cholera prevention and personal hygiene, along with educational materials highlighting the five critical times for handwashing with soap and water, and the best practices for waste disposal at both household and public levels.
Following the return of thousands of displaced people to Wad Madani, they found their neighborhoods overwhelmed with waste and facing unsafe sanitary conditions, in addition to ongoing health and humanitarian challenges and the spread of diseases.
