Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) successfully conducted a Community Health Training Workshop on 15 January 2026 in Tina, targeting Village Health Committees (VHCs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs) from Bamna, Qadeer, Ander, and Tina in North Darfur State.
The training brought together 20 participants working in the health field, including 10 VHC members and 10 CHWs, with balanced gender representation (50% women and 50% men). The activity aimed to strengthen community-level health systems by enhancing participants’ knowledge, skills, and coordination in disease prevention, early detection, and health promotion.
The workshop was implemented under the project “Restoring Lives of Affected Families and Communities through Integrated Emergency Response in Sudan II”, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) through Relief International, and implemented by HDPO.
Using participatory and interactive methodologies, the training covered key topics including community health concepts, Primary Health Care (PHC), roles and responsibilities of VHCs and CHWs, community-based disease surveillance, reporting mechanisms, and effective community communication skills. Practical group exercises and discussions enabled participants to apply learning to real health challenges in their communities.
Post-training assessments showed a clear improvement in participants’ knowledge and understanding compared to pre-training results, demonstrating the effectiveness of the approach.
This activity reflects HDPO’s strong professional experience and sustained humanitarian efforts in building local capacity, strengthening health systems, and supporting community-led solutions that improve health outcomes in crisis-affected areas.
