Within the framework of ongoing humanitarian coordination efforts, the Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO), in collaboration with humanitarian partners and relevant institutions, conducted a field survey to explore local solutions for civilians returning to Tawila Locality, North Darfur.
The survey targeted internally displaced persons (IDPs) who voluntarily returned to Tawila Locality, as well as IDPs currently residing in the Martal area, which hosts a large displaced population. The HDPO team also visited the Tabra area, where significant displacement has occurred due to the conflict.
During the visit, HDPO engaged directly with returnees and displaced families to assess current humanitarian conditions, particularly following the partial restoration of security in Tawila Locality. Discussions focused on understanding returnees’ intentions to remain or return again, identifying priority needs, and mapping sectoral gaps affecting different population groups and locations.
The findings from this assessment will inform HDPO and partners’ planning and advocacy, supporting evidence-based, community-informed interventions that promote safe, voluntary, and dignified returns, while addressing urgent humanitarian needs.
This activity reflects HDPO’s continued commitment to community engagement, needs-based programming, and durable solutions, ensuring that humanitarian responses are aligned with the priorities and realities of conflict-affected civilians in North Darfur.
