Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO), in collaboration with the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) and the IOM team, successfully conducted a comprehensive clean-up campaign in Medani Al-Kubra, Al Jazira State, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance environmental health and reduce public health risks.
The campaign targeted two schools and one health facility in Al-Makei and Jazirat Alfail, combining solid waste management activities with essential sanitation support. As part of the intervention, HDPO provided a total of ten handwashing facilities (HWFs), supporting four schools with four HWFs each and two health facilities with two HWFs each, contributing to improved hygiene practices in both educational and healthcare settings.
To facilitate effective waste removal, HDPO supported the community with a press truck for solid waste and garbage collection, in addition to a small truck to ensure smooth transportation. The organization also provided cleaning tools and protective equipment, including gloves, face masks, and plastic buckets, enabling safe waste handling and disposal prior to collection.
As a result of this coordinated effort, a total of 102 tons of garbage and solid waste were collected and safely removed during this round of the clean-up campaign, significantly improving environmental conditions and supporting disease prevention in the targeted areas.
This activity was funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), reflecting a strong partnership and collective commitment to promoting community health, dignity, and resilience in Al Jazira State.
HDPO remains committed to working closely with partners and local communities to deliver integrated humanitarian and development interventions that address urgent needs while supporting sustainable public health outcomes.
