HDPO Empowers Community Nutrition Volunteers to Deliver Inclusive Nutrition Services in Tina, North Darfur.

To strengthen community-based nutrition services and improve outreach to vulnerable families, the Humanity for Development and Prosperity Organization (HDPO) conducted a two-day training for Community Nutrition Volunteers (CNVs) in Tina Locality, North Darfur State, from 17–18 January 2026.

The training was implemented under the project Restoring Lives of Affected Families and Communities through Integrated Emergency Response in Sudan II and targeted 8 Community Nutrition Volunteers (2 males and 6 females) representing different villages and catchment areas within Tina locality.

Implemented by HDPO with donor support from Relief International and funding from the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance (BHA), the training aimed to enhance CNVs’ technical and practical capacities and address gaps affecting the quality of community nutrition outreach.

Key topics included basic community nutrition concepts, roles and responsibilities of CNVs, nutrition screening using MUAC for children and pregnant and lactating women, identification of malnutrition and referral mechanisms, nutrition awareness and behavior change communication, documentation and reporting, and protection mainstreaming to ensure safe and dignified service delivery.

The training adopted a participatory approach, combining interactive presentations, group discussions, hands-on demonstrations, practical exercises, and question-and-answer sessions, resulting in high engagement and improved understanding among participants.

Overall, the training strengthened CNVs’ readiness to deliver effective, coordinated, and community-centred nutrition services, contributing to improved quality of outreach and support for vulnerable families as part of HDPO’s integrated humanitarian response in North Darfur.
