Al-Fashir – July 10, 2023
HDPO distributed non-foodstuffs to newly displaced people in Camp Zamzam southwest of Al-Fashir, funded by NRC, within the emergency humanitarian services in North Darfur.
Shelter materials, cooking utensils, and water jerry cans were distributed to 150 families out of —- in Al-Salam Center; 56 and 57 for the newly displaced people who fled the Tawila Locality as a result of the violence that occurred last June. The materials were distributed by the organization in the presence of the coordinator of the Tawila IDPs, Mr. Nasr Al-Din Abdul Rahman, and the sheikhs of the displaced.
The distributed materials consist of 300 tarpaulins, 300 blankets, and 300 cartons containing 10 items of cooking pots, 300 saturated mosquito nets, 300 solar-powered lights, 300 mattresses, and 300 water jerry cans.
Fatma Yaqoub, a mother of five children, expressed her joy after receiving these materials, saying that the tarpaulins and blankets she obtained helped her protect herself from rain and cold. She also made food for her family members, indicating her urgent need for foodstuffs and clean drinking water.
On his part, Sheikh Dosa Ibrahim thanked the organization and NRC for providing these materials and appealed for the need to provide such services to the displaced who did not receive them, including foodstuffs, drinking water, health services, environmental sanitation, protection and awareness.
Ibrahim added, “Since we were displaced from Camp Dali for Tawila IDPs to Camp Zamzam in Al-Fashir, we have been getting the ground covered with cloth because we left all our possessions there, and some of them were looted by the armed men.”
