HDPO concludes a workshop on the mechanism for monitoring gross violations against children.

On 14th August 2022, HDPO concluded a training workshop on the mechanism for monitoring and reporting gross violations against children in situations of armed conflict. 20 people, 10 women, and 10 men benefited from the workshop, from Gereida and Dhaka IDP camp in South Darfur.
The workshop dealt with several topics, including the mechanism for monitoring violations established by the Resolution of the UN Security Council, freedom of ideas exchange, thought, and religion, access to information, protection of privacy, parental responsibility and protection from violence.
In addition, the refugee children situation, those who lost their families, children with disabilities, and social and economic aid.
The trainees also received a piece of information about the six violations that must be monitored including the recruitment, killing and mutilation of children, child abduction, rape, physical violence, attacks on schools and hospitals, and denial of access to humanitarian aid.
The workshop aimed at developing the capacity of male and female participants in the harm mitigation strategy, managing societal expectations, diversifying emergency protection strategies, engaging community actors to identify potential biases, validating information by obtaining it from more than one source, and training those in charge of monitoring work in the community on a strict documentation methodology.
The integrated project, funded by the USAID and IOM targets 5,000 people in Gereida, Dika IDP camp, and Umm Rakoba village. The project includes several activities, including latrines’ construction, food distribution for the most vulnerable groups, and soap.
